“My two daughters, Ana and Tanya, had the tremendous opportunity to be part of Mbumwae’s Family Day Care Center for the first three years of their life. I also benefited deeply from Mbumwae’s gift of understanding and relating to young children — her daily observations of my daughters experiences, their personalities, their challenges and their strengths helped me to understand Ana and Tanya better as emerging individuals. The bonds that Mbumwae formed with my daughters have been long lasting. Ana travelled to Ghana with Mbumwae in high school and has continued to volunteer for her project throughout college.

“I’ve known Mbumwae for 15 years, ever since she studied child psychology with me at City College. Children thrive with Mbumwae because she truly understands and wants to be surrounded by them. Her academic knowledge of children is expertly applied; she creates an environment where children can be comfortable and curious so they learn and grow. She sets expectations for the children, but does so with an easy temperament and a sense of humor.”
